Sharon Folkes, Assistant Head (Core Subjects)
I am a teaching practitioner, who has a first degree that is ICT/Computer science related. I have been a qualified teacher for nearly 16 years, having taught in two schools throughout this period of time. I have worked for many years in a mainstream setting, but have always been passionate about working with young people on the autism spectrum. I feel privileged to be working at Eagle House School.
From a personal perspective autism has been a huge part of my life as I am a parent of a young adult on the spectrum. I bring with me my personal experiences and am able to have empathy with the community at Eagle House School. I believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to be the best that they can be and I can contribute to that from both an academic and social perspective.
Throughout my career I have a lot of experience in teaching and meeting the needs of a broad spectrum of students ranging from the Gifted and Talented to SEND, the nurturing and coaching of Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) and I have also managed subject areas within the main stream education environment effectively.
In my areas of responsibility, I work to ensure every young person, who accesses our varied curriculum, is given the best opportunities to be successful both within school and after moving on.
