Free Workshops for Parents Needing Advice & Guidance - SEN Funding Process
We are holding regular events throughout the school year 2009/10 for parents who are looking for advice and guidance about the SEN funding process. We understand how complicated the SEN processs can be and the stress parents feel trying to find the right school for their child with an autistic spectrum disorder. Obtaining funding and navigating the SEN maze is equally daunting and with that in mind we are holding parents workshops with free legal advice. Our events will give parents the opportunity to:
- Better understand their rights as parents
- Know how to best approach their local authority
- Understand the appeals process
When are the events being held?
The dates for our January to April 2010 workshops are:

We will be giving a presentation and providing plenty of opportunity for parents to have their individual questions answered. The workshops will also give parents:
- an opportunity to meet a staff member/s
- an opportunity to hear experience and advice from other parents
- an opportunity to meet other parents in similar circumstances

Paul Conrathe has been recognised as one of the leading lawyers representing children with special educational needs( Legal 500). He was previously the Senior partner of Coningsbys solicitors in Croydon, South London. Most of Paul's legal work over the last 13 years has been with the parents of children with autism.
Paul has regularly provided lectures to parents to enable them to understand the provision available to their child or young person. As a result of his legal work Paul decided to set up a specialist school for children with autism. The vision of Eagle House Group was thus born and the first school opened in Mitcham in January 2004. The group now consists of 8 separate provisions and is one of the fastest growing specialist groups in the UK.
