'the little group' Approach Training Courses

A Pragmatic, Creative Training Programme for Professionals & Parents

....."I have begun to use 'the little group' strategy with my class already and it is SO very successful! I feel so lucky to have been at such amazing training - and a practical application too".....A Mainstream Class Teacher.

....."It was great leaving a course feeling that you can't wait to see your clients to try out all those interesting ideas and just having a better understanding of your client's difficulties and how you can make learning a lot more fun for them - Wow!".....A Speech & Language Therapist

Level One Training Course

  • Tuesday 21st September 2010 (9.45am to 4pm)
  • Tuesday 5th October 2010 (9.45am to 4pm)

'the little group' Approach is a pragmatic and creative training programme designed for those living with or working with young children with an autistic spectrum disorder and social communication difficulties. Training offers the framework and supporting strategies that ensure:

  • An expert and specialist intervention
  • An irresistible invitation to learn
  • The explicit teaching of attention and group learning skills
  • A communication based intervention/curriculum

....."I have at last learnt what level to pitch my intervention at. I feel as if Judy's given me permission to really work effectively with the children and see it in action".....SENCo

Level Two Training Course

  • Tuesday 19th October 2010 (9.45am to 4pm)
  • Tuesday 2nd November 2010 (9.45 to 4pm)

Judy Gilham, 'the little group' Head teacher and Trainer, has expanding her exciting autiism and early years training to a second day, full of new and practical ideas. This course is designed for those who have already attended a Level One course or those with more experience who would like to come into the training at a more intermediate level. The day will cover behavioural management strategies and further ways of developing attention. She will demonstrate how to link 'messy play' activities to the curriculum and help you keep your local costs down by showing you how to use the day to day resources around you by looking at them and using them in a more creative and different way!

....."The week before Judy's training I realised that there was no point in working on language work (and I felt really quite depressed about my job actually) when the children have so little attention and listening. It's different now - and thank you so much".....Specialist Speech & Language Therapist

We believe that the workshops will be of great interest to staff of all disciplines and parents who work with or live with children aged between 2 years and 5 years old who have an autistic spectrum disorder. Our focus for the workshops is to ensure that young children can experience a meaningful and joyful access to early intervention and learning for life.

....."I feel passionate and empowered to know that a) working on attention and listening is the key for any language development and b) I CAN DO THIS! by being resourceful and imaginative. Judy showed me that you don't need lots of money to do this - as I work for the NHS this is a very good thing!!".....

The 1 day courses are designed for a maximum of 25 people and will be held in the West Wing of St Andrew's School, Lockhart Road, Cobham, Surrey KT11 2AX. Click on this link for a map.
