Specialist Autism Teacher (South London)
Main Pay Range (Inner London) 1 to 6 (£30,141 to £40,284 includes SEN allowance) and UPS.

We are looking for a talented SEN Teacher (possessing QTS) to work within our specialist secondary school setting.  You will be experienced in working with pupils who have an autism spectrum disorder and be highly skilled in using approaches known to be successful for learners with autism such as TEACCH and Visual Support Strategies. 6th Form Learning & Job Coach (South London)
Starting Salary £18,000 – £20,000 per annum (Dependent on skills and experience)

We have an exciting opportunity in our new 6th Form Centre for a reliable, hardworking and flexible Job Coach to join our established specialist autism secondary school.

The position will involve:

  • Working throughout the 6th form Department, supporting learners to ensure that they receive their entitlement to an appropriate post 16 curriculum which meets their discrete needs and learning styles.
  • Supporting learners in their chosen college placements to enable them to achieve accredited courses that in turn provide a pathway to further education, vocational training or employment.
  • To accompany learners to college, supporting them with travel training and enabling them to improve their personal independence skills.
  • To support all learners in work experience opportunities.
  • To liaise with managers and other employees in order to develop and create clear roles and areas of responsibility for each learner at work.

We are looking for a Job Coach who has:

  • an understanding of/interest in autism
  • experience of working with children or vulnerable adults in an education or care setting
  • an ability to work as part of a team and to use their initiative to support and implement the Eagle House approach to helping pupils who have a range of needs associated with having autism
  • a calm, patient manner and ability to react positively to extreme levels of  behaviour
  • GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths

Education at Eagle House School (Sutton) has a strong focus on building skills in readiness for each learner’s future and life beyond school.  Our co-educational specialist provision for 16 to 19 year old learners supports young people who have a primary diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder.  The majority of our learners move into 6th Form from our school but we also welcome new learners who wish to join at 6th Form.

We believe that all young people have the right to a 6th Form education that will prepare them for life so they can be as confident and as independent as they can be – to become active and involved members of society.

  • Supporting Class teachers to offer a broad-based, appropriate curriculum
  • Assisting with the supervision of students outside of classroom activities e.g. meal times and recreation times

Eagle House School (Sutton) is an independent specialist co-educational day school providing secondary year’s education for learners, aged 11 to 19 years with an autism spectrum disorder (including Aspergers syndrome) and associated social and communication difficulties. Many of our learners have complex needs and behaviour associated with their autism.
